When I first started this blog, I was an unemployed costumer attempting to create period gowns and costumes with very limited means. Although now employed, I still try to be as thrifty as possible. I am still "The Broke Costumer"!

In addition to posts about the outfits I make on a budget, this blog includes short research articles on fashion, history, accessories, styles, or whatever interests me at the moment.

I hope you enjoy my journey into the land of inexpensive costuming and short articles.

New Secret Project

So!   Myth Masque Ball is coming soon, and I am ready to start sewing my costume.  Black and Silver is my theme this year.    I pulled out various bits and pieces of black and silver jewelry to see what I can use, and what I will need.  I have more, just need to find it.

Take a guess......
Here is the fabric I am using.

Raiding the cupboard for weights, I am starting to cut out the pieces.   That is all I will say about that!  And lets not forget about the trims :)

Best of all, this will be very inexpensive, thanks to Christmas and Birthday gift certificates from Joanns, and a huge after holiday sale.

Oh great, now I have help.....

  1. Can't wait to see it all 'done up'! My mother used table knives as her sewing weights lol. Nice to see other people 'make do' as well. Got to be better than all that pinning!

    1. My cats are the best pattern weights as long as they sit still. However, Casey (the orange one) won't move when its time to cut the next piece.
